Who We Are
Outdoor Adventure Quest (OAQ) is the love child of Pokemon Go and The Amazing Race! So yea… we are pretty cool. We are founded by a Lumberjack alum (2004) that has a passion for technology and the great outdoors. Picture this: 1 state. 3 days. 12 outdoor sport categories. 500+ challenge tasks. Are you ready to Quest?
OAQ was founded in 2015 in Denver and is expanding to all four corner states and has both summer & winter quests for each. We are definitely millennial-type workplace that operates completely digitally and does not require anyone to come into the office. We are looking for students that are looking to move into this space once they graduate. It sounds awesome but it is a lot of work to be remote. It requires organization, time management, and a strong desire for what you are producing for the company.
We are looking for a digitally savvy, strong written communicator with a desire to go into PR post-graduation. We have several media outlets we can connect our intern with that would make for a great media portfolio after graduation. Depending on interns capabilities and post graduation career desires, position could also include writing heavy tasks such as blogs and website content as well. NOTE: this position is executed remotely. Intern must possess a strong self starting mentality, independent working abilities, be comfortable with skype/Facetime meetings and be able to provide weekly reports detailing completed work and any newly earned skills.
Managing existing media connections; local and statewide
Researching additional potential publications (digital & print)
Writing press releases and other materials
Creative pitch brainstorming and writing
Management of PR contact database
Community development with first responders across the state
Compile weekly reports of work completed
Potential blog writing and website content writing assignments
Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism with a great ability to communicate digitally. Applicants should also have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of social media. Position is remote with occasional in-person training and meetings so intern would need their own computer and workspace. Phone and Skype weekly conference calls will take place of in-person training.
